Jill Cerone Marisie is the Presiding Judge of the Third Municipal District. She was elected to the bench in 2006. She supervises 19 judges in Civil, Parentage, Traffic, Domestic Violence, Misdemeanor and Felony cases. She presides over Felony Mental Health and Veteran’s Courts, Expungement Court and routinely hears cases in all other areas of practice throughout her district. Prior to the bench, Judge Cerone Marisie was an associate for 13 years at Erbacci and Cerone Ltd., where her focus was on criminal defense, civil litigation and labor relations law.

After graduating from The John Marshall Law School cum laude in 1990, she worked as a prosecutor for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for three years. She has received the Circuit Court of Cook County “Excellence in Public Service “award in 2019, John Marshall Law School Distinguished Service Award(2018), the NWSBA Presidential Bench-Bar Award(2018),Distinguished Service Award from School District 214 (2017-2019), Northwest Suburban Bar Association Most Civil Jurist Award(2013), Dedication to the Pursuit of Justice from the Italian American Human Relations Foundation of Chicago Award(2011), The Joint Civil Committee of the Italian American Impresa Award(2010), and was awarded by Past President Hon, Celia Gamrath the (2007) Sbarboro Memorial Mentoring Award.

Judge Cerone-Marisie serves on the Illinois Supreme Court Justice and Mental Health Planning Committee, the ProSe Advisory Committee, the Court and State Library initiative, the OCJ Forms Committee, and has worked closely with Justice System Partners on the courts implementation of the Pretrial Fairness Act. She is the Treasurer of the Justinian Society of Lawyers and has taught for the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts continuing education for judges and New Judges School.
