Hon. Clare J. Quish

Judge Clare J. Quish was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Circuit Court of Cook County in June 2016 and elected in 2018. Judge Quish currently sits in the General Chancery Division, where she handles a variety of cases, including cases related to the Freedom of Information Act, property and housing law, trust disputes, business disputes, breach of contract, temporary restraining orders, and complaints for administrative review. Prior to her assignment to General Chancery, Judge Quish spent approximately five years in the First Municipal District, initially in Traffic and then in both the Jury and Non-Jury Sections of that division. In First Municipal, she presided over bench and jury trials and settlement conferences in small claims cases, evictions, and personal injury, property damage, tort, and premises liability cases under $50,000.

Previously, Judge Quish was a partner at Schuyler, Roche & Crisham, P.C., where she concentrated in appellate practice and commercial and civil litigation representing businesses, professionals and insurers. Judge Quish also served on the Illinois Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness and as President of the Appellate Lawyers Association.

She is a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission Rules and Policy Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Access to Justice Committee. Judge Quish is also on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Judges Association and co-chairs its Educational Programming Committee. She is involved with judicial education, teaching a class on small claims cases to new judges as well as editing the traffic court benchbook. Judge Quish frequently reads to grade school children as part of the Illinois Judges Association’s In Schools Program.
