Judge Larry G. Axelrood

Judicial Experience: Judge Larry Axelrood was elected to the bench in 2005 as an Associate Judge and elected by voters in 2012 as a Circuit Judge.  Judge Larry Axelrood is assigned to the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he hears jury trials. His previous judicial assignments include presiding over a motion call in the Law Division and hearing criminal cases in the 2nd, 3rd and Criminal Divisions and traffic matters in the 1st Municipal District. Judge Axelrood presided over Veteran’s Court and Mental Health Court. These specialty courts provide treatment alternatives to defendants within the specific guidelines.

Legal Experience: Prior to becoming a Judge, Judge Larry Axelrood began his career as an Assistant State’s Attorney for 4 years, leaving from the Felony Trial Division. He entered private practice in 1989 and ran his own firm specializing in Federal and State criminal defense as well as civil litigation until being sworn in as a judge on June 1, 2005.
