Judge Karen Lynn O’Malley

Judicial Experience: Judge Karen Lynn O’Malley was elected to the bench in 2012 for a term of six years. Judge Karen Lynn O’Malley is assigned to the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where she hears cases related to decedent estates, including complex litigation. Her previous judicial assignments include presiding over traffic, criminal and civil matters in various courtrooms in the 1st Municipal District.
Legal Experience: Prior to becoming a Judge, Judge Karen Lynn O’Malley worked at the law firm of Levin Riback Law Group, where she represented seriously injured clients in complex litigation matters. Before that she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for more than 16 years prosecuting felony matters and later as a deputy supervisor of a division that handled sex crimes against children. Judge Karen Lynn O’Malley has taught in Chicago-area law schools for more than 20 years, including at Northwestern Law School and currently at DePaul University College of Law.
