Judge Carl B. Boyd

Judicial Experience: Judge Carl B. Boyd was elected by Cook County voters to the bench in 2012. Carl Boyd began his judicial career by exhibiting his legal acumen by presiding over a variety of disciplines including but not limited to Forcible Entry and Detainer actions, Debt Collection and Traffic matters in the 1st Municipal District.   From 2014-2017 his  judicial assignments comprise presiding over Misdemeanor criminal cases, civil cases in the Law Division, Forcible Entry and Detainer actions, Small Claims, Domestic Violence and Parentage cases in the 6th Municipal District.   Since 20017 Judge Carl Boyd has been assigned to the Criminal Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, in the 6th Municipal District, where he hears felony criminal cases.

Legal Experience: Prior to becoming a Judge, Judge Carl B. Boyd worked as a Partner in the Law Firm of Starks & Boyd, P.C.  For 21 years, Carl Boyd maintained a general practice concentrating in the areas of Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, Real Estate Transactions, Personal Injury, and Probate.

Awards: Illinois Judicial Council President’s Award 2016 and 2017
