Judge Andrea M. Schleifer

Accolades: Judge Schleifer was named Working Woman of the Year by the Illinois Chapter of Business and Professional Women, and, more recently, was honored by the Decalogue Society of Lawyers naming a scholarship for her at the Hebrew University in Israel.

Judicial Experience: Judge Schleifer has served in Traffic, Municipal (Evictions), Parentage and the Domestic Relations Division. She currently serves as an Expedited Trial Judge in the Domestic Relations Division.

Legal Experience: Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Schleifer maintained a general civil practice for more than 30 years in a solo or small firm, litigating in every division of the Circuit Court, including handling hundreds of adoptions, and was appointed as attorney for children in scores of custody matters. She also resolved transactional matters such as property and business sales and preparing wills.

Education: Loyola School of Law (J.D., 1979); Indiana University, Bloomington.

Membership: Past-president of Decalogue Society of Lawyers;  Illinois State Bar Association (Board of Governors and Chair of Committee on Participation of Minorities in the Profession and Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity); Vice-chair of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission;  Board of Governors of the Alumni Association of Loyola University School of Law.
