Judge James Flannery
Judge Flannery has been married to his wife, Carol Zigulich, for forty years. They live on the South Side of the City of Chicago. They have one child, Joanne, who is married to her husband Mike. Joanne has two sons, Brooklyn and Becksley.
Before becoming a judge, Judge Flannery practiced law with the firm of Murphy, Preston and Jaffe. He also served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois.
Judge Flannery was first appointed Judge in 1988 and has served for 32 years. He has been elected once and retained four times. He served one year in the First Municipal District. He served in the Forth Municipal District from 1989-1992. He served in the Criminal Division from 1992-1997 and has been assigned to the Law Division from 1997 to the present. Judge Timothy C. Evans appointed him Presiding Judge of the Law Division in 2014.
He is a frequent lecturer and author.
